Professor and Division Directo (Job Opening 446638) - Serves as Director of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine within the Department of Internal Medicine; provides patient care; teaches medical students, residents and fellows in the subspecialty of Cardiovascular Medicine; embarks on a program of research; provides academic leadership; establishes, in association with faculty members, goals and programs; provides fiscal and administrative management of $52 million annual budget ; articulates a vision for the success of the division; constructs opportunities for the faculty to become recognized experts in their chosen sub-specialty; facilitates interdisciplinary collaborations and promotes research collaboration; ensures maintenance of a vital consultative service for inpatients as well as providing general care for patients seeking care; establishes a balance between a sufficient work force and time for faculty development; works with the divisional educators within the program to ensure the highest quality of post-doctoral education; establishes an educational strategy that prepares graduates for careers in both academic medicine as well as the clinical practice of Cardiovascular Medicine; encourages faculty to participate in national and international meetings to increase the visibility of the Division; carries out substantial responsibilities for recruiting new faculty, faculty development, building new referral patterns, and improving access; seeks faculty recruits with research expertise in basic, translational, or clinical research areas; works with the Department of Internal Medicine leadership as well as leadership within OSU?s Areas of Concentration (e.g., Transplant, Surgery).
Education and Experience
Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Medicine and/or appropriate sub-specialty within Cardiovascular Medicine; eligibility for Ohio medical licensure required; prior research experience desired. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
