JOB TITLE: Tutor JOB PURPOSE: Tutors will work with high school students to help them to develop sustainable study skills, to clarify information relevant to the coursework, and to build a positive attitude among students toward the pursuit of higher education. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Tutor high school students in specific areas including clarification of class information and assignments. Assist students in developing study skills and strategies including those that may be specific to a particular course and those that can be used to achieve academic success in other courses. Assist the student to become a confident, independent learner. Be available for tutoring late afternoon and potentially at other times as directed by your supervisor. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education:A minimum of Junior status in college or having completed three semesters of college. Professional educators (Teachers & Paraprofessionals) are encouraged to apply. Experience:Applicants should have grades of B or better in the subject areas in which they wish to tutor. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prior tutoring experience is a plus. Preference will be given to students who have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
